Cheese Scones: Quick Preparation Tips

Scones are probably the easiest and quickest of breads and most of the recipes require only fifteen minutes of preparation time and another fifiteen minute of baking time, once the ingredients are assembled. The ingredients needed for cheese scones are self-raising flour, castor sugar, large pinch of salt, milk, butter, baking powder, cheese, eggs and oil.

The flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and sugar should be stirred well in a bowl along with the cheese. In another bowl, the eggs, sour cream, oil and milk should be stirred. In the centre of the dry mix, the egg mixture is added, just until moistened. The dough is turned into a floured surface and kneaded gently, ten to twelve times. It is made into one- third inches thickness and cut with the help of a cutter. Then, the pieces are placed on a greased baking sheet and this should be baked for about fifteen minutes, until they become golden brown.

Removing from the pan, they can be served for tea time, bridal shower and for any party and are good with a mug of coffee or tea. Cheese scones are equally enjoyed at breakfast, lunch, dinner and especially, for snacks. For calorie conscious people and who are on weight reduction, the amount of butter can be reduced and skimmed milk can be used, instead. Though it would not yield a rich taste, it would, all the same, be nice, warm and delicious.
