Berries With Orange Scones – Preparation Methods
Orange scones alone can be a yummy treat but when berries are added to them it becomes more and more healthy and tastier. The very look of the berries and orange scones can make the mouths watery. It is easy to prepare too.
Some of the ingredients necessary for making berries with orange scones are:
All purpose flour 1 ¼ cup, baking powder 1 ½ tsps, salt ¼ tsp, cold cream cheese (lowered fat) one ounce, cold butter one tbsp, fresh strawberries divided and sliced 1 ½ cup, fresh blueberries 1 1/3 cup (divided), sugar 4 tsps, orange liqueur 1 tbsp (optional) and vanilla ice cream (sugar free) 1 ½ cup (optional).
Method for preparing berries with orange scones:
Baking powder, salt, sugar and flour are mixed in a bowl thoroughly. With the help of two knives or a pastry blender butter and cream cheese are cut into the prepared mixture until it looks like coarse crumbs. Once done it can set separately. Then orange peel, milk and beaten egg are mixed. Both the mixtures are combined together and stirred so that all the ingredients get moistened. The dough is gather in the form of a ball and is placed on a board that is slightly floured so that the dough does not get stuck to the board when pressed.
The dough can be spread in the form of a rectangle and then cut in the shape of squares measuring half an inch. The cut squares are then placed on a greased baking tray and are baked till they become golden brown in color. The orange scones can be cut horizontally into half and served with some ice cream and berry sauce.

Mmmmmm - scones are delicious - but daunting to a non-cook like myself. Though I do prefer baking so some day, when I am brave enough to try, I know who to come to!
